Audemars Piguet has unveiled a tantalizing glimpse of its collaboration with KAWS. The anticipation has now culminated in the reveal of a unique project: the Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon “Companion” limited edition timepiece.
This striking watch features a 43mm case crafted from sandblasted titanium, complemented by a sleek black ceramic crown. At its heart lies a hand-wound 2979 movement, offering an impressive 72 hours of power reserve while operating at a rhythm of 21,600 vibrations per hour.
The dial showcases a sunburst titanium plate, where KAWS’ iconic COMPANION figure is encased within the watch. This character is adorned in a spectrum of gray tones, accentuating its three-dimensional form. The tourbillon movement is visible through COMPANION’s chest, resembling a heart that beats with life.
Audemars Piguet’s signature eight hexagonal screws, which secure the bezel, case middle, and caseback, have been creatively reimagined with “X” motifs. This design choice pays homage to KAWS’ distinctive style while also echoing the eyes of the COMPANION figure.
In keeping with the watch’s grayscale aesthetic, it comes with two interchangeable calfskin leather straps that feature a textile-like finish, available in light gray and slate gray. This versatility allows wearers to customize their look effortlessly.
