Lightship has unveiled the eagerly awaited production versions of its all-electric RV, the AE.1. With only 50 units available, the exclusive Cosmos Edition is priced at $250,000 and is currently on sale. Crafted at the company’s Colorado factory, these RVs are set for delivery in the summer of 2025, promising a unique blend of luxury and sustainability.
At the heart of Lightship’s innovation is the TrekDrive power system, a driven axle that effectively counteracts the drag of the trailer. This groundbreaking feature ensures that the tow vehicle experiences minimal range loss. Additionally, the AE.1 boasts impressive aerodynamics, allowing the trailer to compress into a more compact form for transport. When it’s time to set up camp, the trailer expands, providing ample space and headroom for a comfortable stay.
Inside the Cosmos Edition, the design is nothing short of exceptional. Accommodating up to four people, the AE.1 includes a full bathroom, air conditioning, and a fully-equipped kitchen. This kitchen features modern appliances such as a dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, convection oven, and induction cooktop, all powered by electricity from the onboard battery and the integrated solar panel roof. This setup eliminates the need for fossil fuels and the noise of a generator, ensuring a peaceful off-grid experience.
Ben Parker, co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Lightship, emphasizes the company’s commitment to revolutionizing RV travel. “With the Lightship AE.1 Cosmos, we’re delivering a dream travel experience for sustainable travelers, tech lovers, and EV enthusiasts,” he states. He further explains that the Cosmos Edition represents the first premium offering in their lineup, with more trims on the horizon to cater to the diverse needs of travelers.
Following the debut of the Cosmos AE.1s in two unique color options, the company is set to introduce three new trim levels: Atmos, Panos, and Terros. Each of these will come with its own unique features, capacities, and functionalities, catering to a variety of preferences and needs.
