As part of its ongoing Icons series, Airbnb has introduced a life-sized rental inspired by a Polly Pocket compact toy, featuring mock versions of clothing and oversized furniture.
Situated in Littleton, Massachusetts, this rental is designed to mimic a full-scale representation of a Mattel Polly Pocket toy, which consists of small plastic compacts that house themed environments with a doll.
The Airbnb rental is themed around a 90’s sleepover, allowing guests to “prepare at Polly’s vanity,” try on outfits from the doll’s wardrobe, relax in the living room, and engage in various crafts with provided materials.
“Polly Pocket is stepping into the role of an Airbnb host by unveiling her vintage-themed, two-story Slumber Party Fun compact to commemorate her 35th birthday,” stated Airbnb. “This latest addition to Airbnb’s Icons Category, Polly Pocket’s 42-foot-tall compact elevates adventure to unprecedented levels.”
The rental features an open-air platform and a striking 42-foot (12.8 meters) back wall, designed to resemble an open compact, along with a small “tent” for guest accommodations. Guests ascend a series of steps to enter a living room adorned with toy-like furniture in shades of monochrome teal, magenta, and lavender, arranged around a yellow rug. The space is also decorated with books, a telephone, and various accessories.
A teal door opens to Polly’s closet, where scarves, dresses, and other items are displayed along the back wall. Floor-length mirrors are positioned on either side, connected by a long runner rug. An entryway located beneath the “hinge” of the compact leads to the two-story back wall, which features terraces bordered by pink fencing overlooking the living room.
On the first level, a vanity equipped with a drawer full of craft supplies is situated next to a house “plant” and a faux staircase that extends to the ceiling.
A staircase at the rear of the compact provides access to the second floor, which includes a kitchen stocked with monochrome dishes, a small table, and a large “refrigerator” with functional doors.
The Airbnb listing remarked, “I can anticipate your thoughts: ‘Polly, what accounts for the size of your refrigerator?'” It continued, “How else could I accommodate an entire slumber party’s collection of Ring Pops, Push Pops, and Baby Bottle Pops?”
Adjacent to the main building, small circular “stones” create a pathway leading to a purple tent, where guests spend the night nestled in a row of magenta sleeping bags. At night, the tent radiates a soft lavender glow while remaining open.
The Polly Pocket rental is available for booking from September 12 to 14, priced at $89USD per guest.
